Información:
The self-assembly group at CIC nanoGUNE (San Sebastian, Spain) is looking for a technician to work on the development of bacteria, using gene engineering techniques, and characterization by state-of-the-art equipment. The project aims to develop a metal recovery system based on bacteria. Proteins in the bacteria will be analyzed by structural biology techniques. In more detail, we will develop a biomineralization system, using peptides or proteins in and on bacteria, to capture inorganic materials. The designed bacteria are inherently able to recover metal ions by binding to peptides or proteins, which are designed with gene engineering techniques. The biomineralization mechanisms and the protein crystal structures will be analyzed by electron microscopy, synchrotron X-rays and/or biological microscopy techniques.
