Información:

The Nanoscience Cooperative Research Center CIC nanoGUNE, created with the mission of conducting world-class nanoscience research for the competitive growth of the Basque Country and recently recognized as a "María de Maeztu" Excellence Unit (2017-2021), is currently looking for a

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

to work on

OPTOELECTRONICS AND VALLEYTRONICS IN HYBRID STRUCTURES OF LAYERED MATERIALS

Monolayers of semiconducting 2D materials such as MoS2 or WSe2 present exciting properties for applications in the design of optoelectronic devices. Detection and manipulation of spin and the so-called valley or pseudo-spin degrees of freedom are key for the use of these systems in future information technologies. In this project, we aim to explore spin and valley physics in hybrid structures of layered materials by combining both optical and electrical excitation/detection.

The selected candidate should have a PhD in Physics or related fields, and will be responsible for the magneto-optical and magneto-transport measurements (high magnetic fields and low temperatures), data analysis, and drafting of results. (S)he will be also involved in the design and preparation of structures by exfoliation and stamping in controlled atmosphere and device fabrication by standard electron- beam lithography.

The research will be lead by Dr. Reyes Calvo and Prof. Ignacio Pascual of the Nanoimaging group, in close collaboration with the Nanodevices and Nanooptics groups.

We offer an international and competitive environment, state-of-the-art equipment, and the possibility of performing research at the highest level. The position is available immediately and for a total length of up to three years. The contract will be financed by grant MDM-2016-0618 of the "María de Maeztu" 2016 call of the Spanish National Research Agency.

The candidates should apply by completing the form below, attaching:

a) A complete CV

b) A cover letter and at least two reference letters grouped in a single PDF file.

The deadline for applications has been extended to 30 September 2017.

NOTES:

* NanoGUNE values diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity.

* Applicants should stick to the following instructions for submitting their applications.

* Please note that due to the large number of submissions expected, we cannot provide individual feedback.
