The Nanooptics group at the CIC nanoGUNE (San Sebastian, Spain) is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work on phonon-enhanced optoelectronics (including spectroscopy) devices based on boron nitride (BN) and other 2D materials.

The contract will be within the framework of the H2020-SGA-FET-GRAPHENE-2017- Graphene Core 2 Optoelectronics WP, the third stage of the EC-funded part of the Graphene Flagship. One of the objectives is to develop graphene and related materials (GRMs) based components for photonic and optoelectronic applications, targeting data communications (integrated photonics), flexible photodetectors (PDs), broadband photodetectors and imaging systems, sources (lasers, LEDs), THz technologies, and plasmonic sensors. For all of these applications, graphene and related materials (GRMs) offer distinct advantages compared to existing technologies. 

The successful candidate will develop research involving:

-the design, modelling and experimental characterization of phonon-enhanced 2D materials based devices and sensors. 

Requirements:

• Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, Materials Sciences or related fields and a solid background in optics and nanophotonics.
• Experience in scattering type scanning near field microscopy (s-SNOM) and related spectroscopic methods will be highly appreciated.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English is compulsory.
