Información:

The Nanoscience Cooperative Research Center, CIC nanoGUNE, located in Donostia - San Sebastian, Basque Country (Spain), is currently looking for a

PREDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

to work on

Surface reactions to produce graphene nanoribbons

NanoGUNE is a research center devoted to conducting world-class nanoscience research for a competitive growth of the Basque Country. NanoGUNE is a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) and is recognized by the Spanish Research Agency as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence.

The position is offered in the Nanoimaging Group, whose research goal is to elucidate the laws of magnetism, optics, and electronics at the scale of atoms and molecules. They use low-temperature Scanning-Probe Microscopy to study the basic quantum phenomena behind the macroscopic behavior of matter and to manipulate their basic atomic components.

The aim of the project is to work in the first research pillar of nanoESR, where the molecular systems will be fabricated.  The cancidate will develope novel on-surface techniques to produce GNRs with N and B doping in the interior and explore their spin texture.

The nanoESR project aims to advance our understanding of a promising new class of materials for future information technologies: GRAPHENE. in particular, its main objective is to research the capacity of graphene to host magnetism, and to study the magnetic interactions of a set of thorns inside its.

The successful candidate will have a master in physics or related fields with a background and interest in solid state phenomena and surface reactions. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate experience in the following skills:

  • Proficiency in English and communication skills
  • Good hands on experimental work
  • Cooperative attitude to teamwork

We promote teamwork in a diverse and inclusive environment and welcome all kinds of applicants regardless of age, disability, gender, nationality, race, religion, or sexual orientation.
