CIC10: Master project on SURFACE PLASMON RESONANCE (SPR) FOR LIQUID BIOPSY. REAL TIME DETECTION OF BIOMOLECULES.

Presentación de Solicitudes

Desde: 01/04/2020 (UTC+01:00) Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris

Hasta: 30/06/2020 (UTC+01:00) Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris

Información:

In this project, we are optimizing a plasmonic sensing method and setup based on a classical SPR (surface plasmon resonance) arrangement. The method will be used to detect disease-specific biomarkers at low concentrations from biosamples (e.g. for the detection of Multiple Sclerosis).

Job description

• Development and enhancement of the SPR system for real-time detection of biomolecules.

• Characterization of different kind of biomolecular interactions by SPR. Detection of antigens for liquid biopsy based on binding interactions. Bacteria, proteins, exosomes, etc.

• Data analysis and understanding of binding kinetics using different software tools.

• Transfer of the biological protocols to a disposable plasmonic microdevice and characterization of all process steps, as chemical blocking of non-specific binding of biomarkers, linking of specific antibodies, measurements with antigens at different concentrations.

Main outcome of the project

• Optimized customized SPR system for enhanced real-time biodetection.

• Stable and reproducible biodetection protocols within the microfluidic-plasmonic devices.

• Understanding of the plasmonic response of specific antigens at different concentrations.

We encourage highly motivated candidates to carry out their final Master’s thesis in an international, multidisciplinary research environment. Preferably, the students should have the following background: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, etc. For more information, please visit our website http://www.nanogune.eu/nanoengineering.
