NanoGUNE, located in San Sebastián (Spain), is a research center dedicated to basic and applied world-class nanoscience and technology. The institute features an excellent modern infrastructure for nano and micromanufacturing including a clean room facility, advanced electron microscopy, equipment for characterization, and multidisciplinary expertise and instrumentation in various labs.

The Nanoengineering group at nanoGUNE is looking for a Senior Postdoctoral candidate with research interests at the interface between fundamental nanoscience and applied engineering, in particular for biomedical applications. We are especially looking for highly motivated applicants of strong academic background, working in the field of photonics/plasmonic for the detection of biological nanoparticles. The candidate should have a strong background in optical systems, micro & nanotechnology, electromagnetic simulations, biofunctionalization, and data analysis.

For consideration, candidates must have completed a PhD degree between 01/01/2006 and 31/12/2013, preferably in physics, chemistry or any related engineering field. The candidate is expected to work in a highly interdisciplinary research environment with clinical and industrial partners.

The position is a 5-year term appointment subject to a successful subsequent application for a Ramón y Cajal fellowship of the Spanish government.
