NanoGUNE, located in San Sebastián (Spain), is a research center dedicated to basic and applied world-class nanoscience and technology. The institute features an excellent modern infrastructure for nano and micromanufacturing including a clean room facility, advanced electron microscopy, equipment for characterization, and multidisciplinary expertise and instrumentation in various labs.
The Nanoengineering group at nanoGUNE is looking for a PhD student candidate with research interests at the interface between fundamental nanoscience and applied engineering, in particular for biomedical applications. We are especially looking for excellent & highly motivated applicants wiling to work in the field of photonics/plasmonic for the early detection of widespread diseases as cancer, cardiovascular as well as neurodegenerative diseases. The candidate will gain knowledge in optical systems, micro & nanotechnology, electromagnetic simulations, biofunctionalization and data analysis.
For consideration, only Spanish candidates are considered and must have completed Master degree between 01/01/2012 and 31/07/2017, preferably in physics, chemistry or any related engineering field. The candidate is expected to work in a highly interdisciplinary research environment with clinical and industrial partners.
