NanoGUNE, located in San Sebastián (Spain), is a research center dedicated to basic and applied world-class nanoscience and technology. The institute features an excellent modern infrastructure for nano and micromanufacturing including a clean room facility, advanced electron microscopy, equipment for characterization, and multidisciplinary expertise and instrumentation in various labs.

The Nanoengineering group is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with research interests at the interface between fundamental nanoscience and applied engineering, in particular for biomedical applications.  We are especially looking for highly motivated applicants of strong academic and international background, working in the field of photonics/plasmonic for medical diagnostics. The candidate should have a strong background in optical systems, micro & nanotechnology, electromagnetic simulations, biofunctionalization, and data analysis, and is expected to work in a highly interdisciplinary research environment with clinical and industrial partners.

For consideration, candidates must have completed a PhD between 01/01/2006 and 31/12/2014, preferably in physics, chemistry or any related engineering field. Moreover, the candidate must fulfill the conditions described under

The position is a 5-year term appointment subject to a successful subsequent application for an Ikerbasque fellowship.
