A Marie Sklodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher PhD position is available at CIC nanoGUNE (San Sebastian, Spain), within the framework of the HYCOAT European Training Network (ETN-765378).

Project title: (Bio)functionalized gas permeation barriers through vapor phase infiltration and spatial MLD

Short description of the ESR project:

This ESR project aims at developing permeation barriers by combining vapor phase infiltration (VPI), atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD). Multiple functionalities of the deposited films, including barrier properties, getter functionalities as well as bactericidity/fungicidity will be addressed.

Job requirements: 

Prior expertise in ALD/MLD and/or characterization of wetting properties or biofunctionalities is beneficial. We expect the candidate to have high motivation to derive the full benefit from the training network. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact efficiently with experimental/industrial partners are a requirement.

 

Eligibility criteria

 

  • Degree: Candidates must hold a Master degree or equivalent degree which formally entitles them to embark on a doctorate. They should not already hold a PhD degree.
  • Career Stage: Early-stage researchers (ESRs) are those who are, at the time of recruitment by the host, in the first four years of full-time equivalent research experience of their research careers. This is measured from the date when they obtained the degree (Master or equivalent) which formally entitles them to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the research training is provided, irrespective of whether or not a doctorate was envisaged.
  • Mobility Rules: At the time of recruitment by the host organization, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment. Short stays, such as holidays, are not taken into account.
  • English Language: ESRs must demonstrate that their ability to understand and express themselves in both written and spoken English is sufficiently high for them to derive the full benefit from the network training.

Benefits and salary

The successful candidates will receive an attractive salary in accordance with the MSCA regulations for early stage researchers under the consideration of the country correction factor. The salary includes living / mobility / family allowances, where applicable.
