Hasta: 15/04/2018 (UTC+01:00) Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris

Información:

The Nanoscience Cooperative Research Center CIC nanoGUNE, created with the mission of conducting world-class nanoscience research for the competitive growth of the Basque Country and recently recognized as a "María de Maeztu" Excellence Unit (2017-2021), is currently looking for a

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

to work on

SPINTRONICS AND VALLEYTRONICS IN 2D MATERIALS AND VAN DER WAALS HETEROSTRUCTURES

The rich library of 2D layered materials present a plethora of spin- and valley-related properties that can be combined in order to design novel spintronics and valleytronics devices. Detection and manipulation of spin and valley degrees of freedom are key for the use of these systems in future information technologies. In this project, we aim to explore spin and valley physics in van der Waals heterostructures by combining layered materials with complementary properties.

The selected candidate should have a PhD in Physics or related fields, and will be responsible for the design and preparation of structures by exfoliation and stamping in controlled atmosphere and device fabrication by standard electron-beam lithography. (S)he will be also involved in the magneto-transport measurements (high magnetic fields and low temperatures), data analysis, and drafting of results.

The research will be lead by Prof. Fèlix Casanova and Prof. Luis E. Hueso of the Nanodevices group in close collaboration with the Nanoimaging and Nanooptics groups.

We offer an international and competitive environment, state-of-the-art equipment, and the possibility of performing research at the highest level. The position is available immediately and for a length of two years. In the first instance, the contract will be financed by grant MDM-2016-0618 of the "María de Maeztu" 2016 call of the Spanish National Research Agency.

The candidates should apply by completing the form below, attaching:

a) A complete CV

b) A cover letter and at least two reference letters grouped in a single PDF file.

The deadline for applications is 15 April 2018.

NOTES

* Applications that do not follow the instructions indicated above will not be considered further.
