The Nanoscience Cooperative Research Center CIC nanoGUNE, created with the mission of conducting world-class nanoscience research for the competitive growth of the Basque Country and recently recognized as a "María de Maeztu" Excellence Unit (2017-2021), is currently looking for a
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
to work in the
NANOENGINEERING GROUP
Title of the project: Plasmonic Biosensing
Description of the project: The overall goal of this cooperative project is the establishment of a liquid biopsy by plasmonic biosensing. The idea is to optimize all aspects of a plasmonic sensing platform, as for example the Gaussian beam, the biofunctionalization, and the mathematical algorithms to optimize sensitivity, resolution and limit of detection. Moreover, new features based on nanostructured surfaces are to be introduced to enhance the system’s performance. Special focus for the candidate lies on
• The development of nanostructured surfaces of noble metals by typical cleanroom fabrication services
• Design and fabrication of microfluidic chambers
• Biofunctionalization of microfluidic chips
• Characterization of components and processes
• Plasmonic sensing of biomolecules including data analysis
Required Degree: PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or related Engineering field
Required Experience: Cleanroom processes/fabrication, biofunctionalization, microfluidics
Characteristics of the position: Working in an interdisciplinary team with two external partners. Connections to industry and strategies for technology transfer.
Knowledge and competences: Patenting, interdisciplinary project management, optics, photonics, plasmonics
How to apply: Fill the form below and attach your CV, motivation letter, certificates and 2 reference contacts in a single PDF.
Deadline for applications: 20/05/2018
